8Crabs Sri Lanka Live Crabs
[Review]
We are still very much eating at home in this period of Circuit Breaker (CB) Phase 2. Being a lazy cook, I did take-away and order-in frequently. Fortunately, we can now do house visits, so we could order more varieties of food to share with our loved ones and friends.
We visited my sister’s place at the beginning of CB Phase 2 since we haven’t met for a few months due to the Phase 1 restrictions. And yes, it certainly calls for a celebration, with CRABS, of course!
We ordered from 8Crabs because it has freshly cooked Sri Lankan Crabs with an award-winning taste and it promises to deliver within 1 hour from ordering, with free delivery of a minimum $120.
The Chilli Crabs didn’t disappoint. They were large and meaty, with absolutely no ammonia smell and hollow shells. The chunky meat was easily detached from the shell proving that the crabs were really fresh. I later knew that these crabs took less than half a day to reach from the sea in Sri Lanka to 8Crabs central kitchens in Singapore! You can read about its efficiency here. What’s more! These crabs are AAA graded, assessed by the best crab graders in Sri Lanka with over 30 years in the trade.
Of course, besides crabs, we also ordered some other dishes to complete the feast. My sister is a domestic food critic, so when she said ‘nice’, usually the food is good. We both agreed that the Coffee Pork Ribs were unique and tasty. It didn’t have a strong coffee scent (though I didn’t mind) but the meat was super tender.
The Hokkaido Scallops with Asparagus was another big win. The scallops were soft and chewy, and the asparagus was well-cooked, neither too soft nor too raw. Thumbs up for this!
To feed the picky boy with his comfort food, I ordered the crowd-pleaser Prawn Paste Chicken Wings for him. It was on-par with Zhi-Char standard, something crispy that will please the young, I would say.

We (7 pax) were belly full and very satisfied with the quality of the food. Would we order again? For sure.
