Home Entertainment with BenQ GS2 Portable LED Projector

 [Review]

Even with the Phase 2 re-opening, we are still pretty homebound, aren’t we? Good thing is we could have a maximum of 5 guests visiting our homes, which means some home entertainment may be needed.

While I am not keen on having a high-end 4K home theatre projector for an ultimate theatre performance, this portable BenQ GS2 wireless portable LED projector is fun enough and serves my needs.

What I truly like is its portability.

It is small, light, and is completely wireless, allowing you to carry it to your garden, to the condo function room, to your balcony, or bring it to your staycation venue since we couldn’t travel overseas yet. All you have to do is to charge its internal battery fully and you could have a 3-hour non-stop movie marathon.

It comes in a neat little bag, so it is easy to carry around. Setting up is easy so I left it entirely to AJ to do. To connect to the wifi, AJ inserted in the wireless dongle provided and got it hooked to our wireless network. One can use the remote control provided to control all its functions, but AJ also downloaded the BenQ Smart Control app from Google Play (also available on Apple’s App Store), so that he could control the GS2 using his mobile phone as well.

BenQ GS2 portable projector is autofocus, so there is no need to struggle with finding the sharply focused image. The image is clear and of high quality. Its LumiExpert technology automatically senses the ambient light to optimise the brightness without straining your eyes. There is a 15° tilt hinge at the bottom so you can easily project the display at the perfect angle on to a projection screen or wall.

Another feature that all parents love is the eye-protection sensor. It will automatically turn off the light source if children peek at it to protect their eyes. There is also a parental timer to limit screen time.

In terms of sound, it has a usable built-in speaker which is good enough in an enclosed room. But if you want a powerful sound effect in an outdoor setting, you may connect it to the external speakers.

Oh yes, it is also splash-proof and drop-proof, which makes it ideal for outdoor entertainment, but we didn’t rain water on it nor try dropping it yet.

There are a few apps installed on the BenQ GS2 by default: Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, and Aptoide. If none of these suits you, you could still download the entire video into a USB stick, plug it in and play. In that case, you won't even need wireless connectivity.

With 9.9 Lazada sales happening, you might want to seize this opportunity to grab some good deals. BenQ GS2 portable projector receives many good reviews in the Lazada e-commerce website and other tech review websites, you might want to read up too. For now, I am very happy with this projector and am very sure it will be put to good use whether it is using it at home for a movie by the bed or bring it out for some mobile entertainment with friends.
