Value Investing for Women

[Giveaway]

Proverbs 31:10-28  (Kings James Version)

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

This is the famous scripture portion in the Holy Bible describing a virtuous woman.  God, the Almighty, has set a biblical standard for all Christian mothers to follow.  So we, ladies, need not compare with each other, we only need to measure ourselves against God's standard laid out for us.

My hubs is a frugal person, whereas, I was quite the opposite.  It was no wonder when we got married, we realised that he had more savings than me though I earned more than him (to his horror, I believe).  Then, when we opened a joint-account, he was always checking the account conscientiously to ensure this spender did not over-spend.

It was not until 2007 (2 years into our marriage) that I got into the Remiser business and my perspective of financial wealth changed thoroughly.  From then on, I was exposed to another avenue of accumulating wealth.  I benefited much from the Global Financial Crisis (2008-2009), riding both the downtrend and the uptrend of the stock market and the property cycle.  I started to educate myself even more along the way, making sure I am constantly fed with knowledge in the financial market.  I am constantly learning and upgrading myself in this arena.

It didn't take long for the hubs to realise that this wife has turned from a spender to an 'investor'.  It didn't take long for him to fully let me take charge of all the invest-able funds we have because of my proven records.

Please don't get me wrong. I am not obsessed with making money with all my available time, for the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10).  But I do want to be the type of servant mentioned in Matthew 25, a faithful steward who multiplied my talents for the Lord. As such, I am convinced that ladies can make good investors too, only if they are prepared to learn the skills of investing.
