Let's Go Kelong Tour

I have always enjoyed educational boat trips whether locally or overseas. I find this one of the more efficient ways of learning about the history of each country/state and also, observing how urbanisation transformed the state of wealth of the country/state.

Before the end of this year-end school holiday, I managed to slot in a boat trip, bringing AJ and my mentors to this fun and memorable trip to Kelong. It is conducted by Let's Go Tour, a licensed local tour operator. In fact, the boat is owned by the company.

We set off from SAF Yacht Club in Sembawang. Traveling along the northern coast, we passed by Seletar, Punggol, Ubin, and then back. The whole journey is about 3 hours, with meal/refreshment on a floating restaurant in Ubin (at own cost).

We took the evening sail, so we had an arranged dinner in the floating restaurant. AJ had the opportunity to fish with a fishing rod for the first time and got us a fish for dinner.

Robin, our guide for this trip, is knowledgeable about the history of Singapore. He made a few pitstops to give us some insight into the Sembawang Shipyard, Pulau Seletar, Pulau Serangoon (Coney Island), mangrove swamp, importing of sand, and how sand flies came to Singapore. We also casually joked about the new Punggol Waterfront B.T.O projects as we passed by Punggol. ðŸ¤

Our route: Sembawang, Seletar, Punggol, Ubin, and back

After a sumptuous dinner, we went back in time for a beautiful sunset. The cruise back was without pitstops, only this gorgeous sunset view.

Thank you Let's Go Tour for having us. If you intend to book this Kelong boat trip, you'll be glad to know that you could utilise the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers. The Kelong boat trip is fully booked till the end of 2020, you might want to book early if you are eyeing slots in the March school holiday 2021. This one is selling like hotcakes.
