I blogged about AJ having a sensitive airway and his pricked test results in November 2017. It turned out that he is sensitive to Dust Mites. From then onwards, his room is kept clear of plush toys, curtains, etc. There is no way to avoid dust unless we are in the cleanroom environment, but I try to minimise anything that could collect dust and use only those easy-to-clean furnishing.
When it comes to bedding, latex is one of the better choices for him, since it is already a sterile material. All types of latex are mildew-proof and antimicrobial so they will not support the growth of dust mite or other common allergens. They are ideal for people suffering from allergies, and that is why I changed to latex pillow for AJ.
Latex is dense, so it is able to hold its shape longer than cotton, yet, it is soft enough to adjust to our movements. As such, it provides a better neck and head support, for better rest and spinal support. No matter whether you sleep on your back or sides, the latex pillow is able to accommodate.
