The Tuition Centre With Award Winning Teachers - True Learning Centre
[Advertorial]
In the tuition industry, it is not difficult to find centres set up by former school teachers. These teachers, after being trained in National Institute of Education (NIE), taught in schools for a period of time, decided to leave their demanding job to set up their own tuition centres or to teach there. These tutors are highly sought after because of their teaching experience and their familiarity with our local education curriculum.
However, not many centres have Award Winning teachers, especially teachers who are scholars themselves. I have just come across one - True Learning Centre.
True Learning Centre has the credentials of all their teachers listed in their website, so parents can verify the qualifications of their tutors easily. Due to the nature of my work, I am pretty familiar with the tuition centres in Singapore. But, this is my first time encountering a tuition centre with such an impressive list of tutors.
In True Learning Centre (TLC), not only will you find tutors with decades of teaching experience, you will also find former senior teachers, Subject Head, Head of Department and Vice Principal. On top of that, quite a few of its tutors are nominees and recipient of the prestigious President's Award for Teachers! Mr. Max Tan, one of the founders, is a former Head of Mathematics department from Hwa Chong Institution and was an Assessment Officer from Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB), the authority which sets and/or oversees the national-wide examinations. As a parent myself, one of the most important selection criteria of choosing a tuition centre is the qualification and the teaching experiences of its tutors, and TLC is truly one regular, no gimmicks, tuition centre with many qualified tutors that stands out. I felt as if I have found an undiscovered precious gem.
What makes TLC even more impressive to me, besides its qualified resident tutors, is that it does not discriminate students by conducting fanciful admission tests. Its greatest achievement comes from students who have improved in their results, not 'A' students who came in as 'A' students.
I decided to pay a visit to this humble tuition centre on 5 June when they have an open house for their new outlet in Jurong East JCube.
During the Open House, the children got to learn Coding, had their hands on some Science experiments and had fun with Abacus, while the parents had some talks with the teachers. It was heartening to see smiles on the parents and children, and the parents' concerns being addressed.
TLC has 3 outlets conveniently located islandwide - JCube (Jurong East), Simon Plaza (Kovan) and Goldhill Shopping Centre (Novena). They are all within minutes walk from the MRT stations. TLC offers tuition for Primary School subjects and Secondary School (mainstream and IP) Math. If you are considering supplementing your children in their weaker subjects, do have a word with True Learning Centre.
PS: For those who have a flair for writing, TLC is holding a Creative Writing Contest based on the Open House Event. Please check its facebook page for more information.
