Walking With Dinosaurs - The Live Experience In Singapore

[Review]

Calling Dinosaurs lovers! Here’s your chance to come as close as you can get to the real thing. 18 life-size realistic animatronic dinosaurs parading right in front of you.  This is a live performance in Singapore where you get to witness how each of the animatronic dinosaurs is controlled, and observe how well the coordination is.

We were invited on the opening night to see for ourselves, and I would think, the young ones who love dinosaurs will definitely love watching this LIVE. So much reading about them on books, watching them on documentaries, but nothing comes close to see life-size HUGE dinosaurs right in front of your eyes without your lives being threatened.

We were blessed with front row seats where Tyrannosaurus Rex, Brachiosaurus, Stegosaurus and Ankylosaurus came close to. So if you would like to have that unforgettable experience, front rows of sector 121 are the best seats. Otherwise, everywhere else is as good because the dinosaurs roam around all the corners of the stage.

On a caution note, the younger kids may be terrified by the loud roars and the heavy stomps (because the sound effect is really good), parents could prepare headphones to cover their children's ears, or simply use your hands to cover for them when necessary.

The story was narrated like a documentary and I must admit that it can get draggy at times. This is part and parcel of being a documentary live show.

The older children might not be too intrigued by those live dinosaurs because they know these are not real, but they might be interested in the engineering design behind the show. AJ was extremely curious how these huge dinosaurs move so he tried googling and chanced upon this youtube video:

And so, during the intermission, he went near the control void to peep and trying to study all those electronic devices. Watch this video with your older kids before watching this show, it will give you much background and will make you appreciate this production even more.

Though I do not believe dinosaurs existed 65 million years ago, I do believe they existed. And the earth is young, not millions of years old, but just couple of thousands, according to the Bible.

What I appreciate about this production are:
  • it is a huge production worth 15 million to produce and each life-size dinosaur is worth about a million;
  • the dinosaurs move as real as they can be with fantastic animatronics control and live puppetry;
  • the small dinosaurs are operated by skilled puppeteers inside wearing 40kg suit. They have trained hard (gym, cardio and yoga) to manoeuvre these animals;
  • it is the live experience that gives your young children the best education tool. Enhance this experience with books and documentaries and they will retain this knowledge well.

Walking With Dinosaurs - The Live Experience is showing in Singapore Indoor Stadium from now till 8 Sep 2019 (Sun). Special offer is available for Cat 2 to 4. Book your tickets here.
