The Cat in the Hat (Mandarin) 戴高帽子的猫
[Media Review]
AJ loves cats. And AJ loves The Cat in the Hat.
Ever since we introduced Dr. Suess' books and DVDs to him when he was a lot younger, he fell in love with this Cat. Even at this age, AJ still loves him.
Naturally, when I asked if he would like to watch The Cat in the Hat in Mandarin, he readily said 'Yes'. So off we went, last Saturday, to be amused by The Cat.
Synopsis
Sally and her brother get a surprise visit from the Cat in the Hat. With his endless tricks and crazy ideas, he certainly turned the dull rainy afternoon into one amazing adventure. Joined by the twin mischief-makers, Thing 1 and Thing 2, The Cat in the Hat brought laughter, excitement and fun to all of us.
Some parents asked me if AJ is too mature for this. I would say, as long as your child still likes The Cat, I think the child would still enjoy it. And I think accompanying adults appreciate the play from a different perspective too. While the children may be entertained by the process, adults look into the effort of the actors and the backstage preparation work. I find that the production team did put in a lot of effort in the props, the story flow and the sound effect. All these worked in synergy to give The Cat in the Hat in Mandarin a worthy watch.
The Cat in the Hat in Mandarin is showing now till 7 Sep. Book your tickets early through Sistic as it is selling like hotcakes! Also, keep your The Cat in the Hat ticket studs to enjoy 15% off coming Nursery Crimes musical play.
Nursery Crimes is a fresh way where fairy tales and nursery rhymes are presented. It will deconstruct and twist popular stories by showing how characters like Little Bo-Peep and Old King Cole are on the inside and what happens after the happy ending we know so well! Deconstructing stories stimulates children’s creativity and facilitates inquiry-based learning, as children ask questions about the twist in classic stories. Inquiry-based learning develops children’s critical thinking, logical understanding and problem-solving skills. Nursery Crimes sounds like a super fun production for both the young and the young-at-heart.
